Norma definuje normalizovaný testovací jazyk vyššího řádu pro všechny systémy (zkratka C/ATLAS), který je navržen tak, aby popisoval zkoušky pomocí termínů, nezávislých na jakémkoliv specifickém zkušebním systému. Přejímaná norma se skládá ze dvou stran textu evropské normy a 602 stran anglického textu normy IEC.
