The International Union of Railways (UIC) develops and distributes International Railway Solutions (IRS) in order to help railway stakeholders, to achieve further harmonisation and collaboration. This IRS deals with the functional, operational, safety requirements on passenger vehicle entrance doors, intercommunicating doors, internal doors, freight doors and drivers cab doors. It is addressed to railway undertakings, manufacturers and entities in charge of the maintenance of railway vehicles.
