This study aims to explore disruptive transport modes and identify potential synergies with the railway sector. Specifically, it focuses on the state-of-the-art of magnetic levitation (maglev) technology, conducts a comparative analysis between maglev and conventional railway systems, particularly high-speed rail, and provides insights into the hyperloop concept.
The research contributes to the field by offering an updated vision of maglevs evolution, providing a holistic and comparative analysis of maglev and high-speed rail. Noteworthy conclusions from this study include that the maturity and safety of maglev technology are proficient, although the high construction costs currently impede its widespread implementation.
