Diese Internationale Norm legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung von sauer hydrolysierbaren und nicht-hydrolysierbaren anionaktiven Anteilen in Waschmitteln fest. Diese anionaktiven Anteile umfassen Alkylsulfate und Hydroxysulfate sowie Alkylphenol- und Fettalkoholethersulfate. Die mittlere relative molare Masse der beiden Typen anionaktiver Stoffe muss bekannt sein oder vorher bestimmt werden, wenn deren Gehalt als Massenanteil in Prozent angegeben wird. Enthält das Waschmittel irgendein Oxidationsmittel, muss dieses vor der Hydrolyse zerstört werden.
