ASMEs Nuclear Quality Assurance (NQA-1) Standard provides quality assurance requirements and guidance applicable to all phases of a nuclear facilityâ??s life cycle and is applicable to all structures, systems, components, activities, or organizations that are essential for the safe, reliable, and efficient performance of a nuclear facility. Applicable to all large light water reactors and future advanced reactors including SMRs. The ASME NQA-1 Standard provides a comprehensive framework for nuclear quality assurance (QA) programs, ensuring safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance in nuclear facilities. It establishes requirements for quality assurance processes, covering activities from design and procurement to construction, operations, and decommissioning. The NQA-1 Standard applies to a wide range of safety-related systems throughout all phases of a nuclear facilityâ??s life cycle. These include instrumentation and control systems, waste processing and storage systems, procurement and quality assurance systems, personnel training and qualification programs, nonconforming materials and component management, and software verification, validation, and maintenance systems.
