Norma platí pro chemický rozbor niklových rud a určuje stanovení olova metodou polarografickou. Při provádění rozboru musí být dodržena všechna ustanovení podle ČSN 44 1701. Podstata metody: Vzorek se rozloží kyselinami, olovo se oddělí od rušivých prvků extrakcí s diethyldithiokarbamidanem sodným do chloroformu a po reextrakci se stanoví polarograficky v prostředí kyseliny chlorovodíkové a askorbové. Postup při provádění normalizované zkoušky je podrobně popsán. ČSN 44 1616 byla schválena 20.7.1990 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.7.1991. Nahradila část 16 ČSN 44 1602 z 4.12.1974 a spolu s ČSN 44 1602 až ČSN 44 1615 a ČSN 44 1617 ji nahradila v celém rozsahu
