Tato evropská norma je první částí normy obsahující požadavky a zkušební metody na chrániče proti nárazu pro motocyklisty. Chrániče proti nárazu vyhovující požadavkům této evropské normy poskytují určitou ochranu proti zranění způsobenému při pádu na vozovku a mohou také poněkud omezit zranění způsobená nárazy na objekty, například na jiná vozidla. Pro chrániče jsou stanoveny dvě třídy provedení. Chrániče třídy 1 poskytují ochranu s malými ergonomickými omezeními spojenými s jejich používáním.
