Tato část IEC 62321 popisuje metody zkoušení pro olovo, kadmium a chrom v polymerech, kovech a elektronice metodami AAS, AFS, ICP-OES a ICP-MS. Tato norma specifikuje stanovení úrovně kadmia (Cd), olova (Pb) a chromu (Cr) v elektrotechnických výrobcích. Zahrnuje tři typy matric: polymery/polymerní díly, kovy a slitiny a elektroniku. Tato norma popisuje použití čtyř metod, jmenovitě AAS (atomová absorpční spektrometrie), AFS (atomová fluorescenční spektrometrie), ICP-OES (optická emisní spektrometrie s indukčně vázaným plasmatem) a ICP-MS (hmotnostní spektrometrie s indukčně vázaným plasmatem) a rovněž samostatné postupy pro přípravu roztoku vzorku, z nichž mohou specialisté vybrat nejvhodnější analytický postup. Jelikož je v současné době obtížné stanovit analýzu šestimocného chromu v polymerech a elektronice, zavádí tato norma metodu předběžného testování/screeningu chromu v polymerech a elektronice s výjimkou AFS. Při analýze Cr můžeme získat informace o existenci šestimocného chromu v materiálu. Avšak analýza prvku nemůže detekovat selektivně šestimocný chrom, stanoví množství chromu ve všech oxidačních stupních ve vzorcích. Jestliže množství chromu překročí mez pro šestimocný chrom, musí být provedena zkouška na šestimocný chrom
